Meet Katie and Cole!
These two love hanging out in downtown Gilbert, so shooting their engagement photos here was perfect. They're getting married this November in Cole's parents' backyard, and I couldn't be more excited—backyard weddings are some of my favorites to shoot!
Their Downtown Gilbert Engagement Session
Katie and Cole showed up excited and ready for anything, which is exactly the energy you want for an engagement session! They were playful, romantic, and totally comfortable with each other—the kind of couple that makes my job easy because their connection is so genuine.
We shot just before sunset in downtown Gilbert, and honestly, the sky that day was incredible. Full of clouds that created the most beautiful, dramatic light. Sometimes cloudy skies can feel gloomy, but this was the opposite—soft, diffused light that wrapped around them perfectly and made everything feel warm and romantic.
We explored different spots around downtown—under the trees, by the water tower, wherever the light looked good. They were game for all of it, which made the whole thing feel relaxed and fun instead of forced. That's one of the things I love about downtown Gilbert—it's got enough variety that we can create different looks without driving all over. Plus, since Katie and Cole actually hang out there all the time, it felt authentic to who they are, which always makes the photos more meaningful.
Tips for Gilbert Engagement Sessions
Embrace the Weather: Don't be afraid of clouds! That day the sky was full of them, and it created the most beautiful light. Sometimes the "imperfect" weather makes for the best photos.
Be Up for Anything: Katie and Cole's willingness to explore and try different things made the session so much fun. Trust the process and go with it.
Pick Locations That Mean Something: Whether it's downtown Gilbert, your favorite coffee shop, or somewhere you got engaged, meaningful locations make photos feel more like you.
