Payton goes to Williams Field High School out in Gilbert, and honestly she was one of those seniors who just gets it from the start. No awkwardness, no "I don't know what to do with my hands" energy. Just easy. We headed out to one of my favorite spots by the river, which is one of those locations that works in almost any light. It's got that open, natural feel that fits a lot of different personalities, and it definitely fit Payton.
Getting to know her during the session was genuinely fun. She loves to travel and has already seen more of the world than most adults I know. I told her I was envious of her passport and I meant it. That kind of curiosity and sense of adventure comes through in who she is, and it made for a session that felt real rather than rehearsed.
The detail I loved most? She brought her grandpa's military jacket. That kind of thing always means a lot, and it adds something to a session that you just can't manufacture. It's personal, and personal is always better.
Your Senior Session
If you're a Williams Field senior (or anywhere in the Gilbert area) and you're thinking about booking, here's what I always tell people: bring something that means something to you. It doesn't have to be a prop in the traditional sense. A jacket, a pair of shoes, a hat, something tied to a sport or hobby you love. Those details make your photos feel like YOU and not just a senior portrait template.
A few other things worth thinking about:
Outfits matter more than people think. Two or three looks give you variety without making the session feel rushed. Think about mixing textures and keeping it simple over trendy.
Location should match your personality. If you're an outdoorsy person, let's go outside. If you love the city vibe, downtown Gilbert has some great spots. I can help you figure it out.
Don't stress about posing. That's my job. I'll move you through it and make it feel natural. Most seniors are surprised at how fast it goes once we get started.
