Queen Creek Family Photographer | The Kass Family
I've known the Kass family for over a decade. Aaron and I work together at the church, and Britney and I have been long-time friends. So when they asked me to capture their family photos at Queen Creek Wash, I was thrilled.
We shot in the early afternoon in November, and the light filtering through those moody trees along the wash was incredible. This was my first time photographing their family all together, and it was such a gift. Even as the kids are becoming teens, they genuinely like to be with each other—laughing, being silly, and just enjoying their time together.
Their Session at the Queen Creek Wash
This wash is one of those Arizona spots that doesn't feel very Arizona. The trees create this canopy of texture and mood, and the late afternoon light comes through in the best way! I mean…c’mon!
The Kass family brought all the energy. Their three kids are at ages where they could easily be too cool for family photos, but they showed up ready, love that about them! This family is special to me, and I'm so thankful to have them as friends. Watching their kids grow up and getting to document these in-between moments—that's what makes this job meaningful.
Just to making sure you get to see the real side of them ;)
Tips for Family Sessions with Teens
Let Them Move: Forget posed and stiff. Skipping, walking, laughing—movement keeps teens engaged and photos feel more authentic.
Late Afternoon Light is Magic: November light in Arizona hits different. We shot early afternoon at Queen Creek Wash, and that bright but warm lighting made everything feel cozy.
Choose Locations with Texture: Queen Creek Wash's moody trees and natural backdrop give photos depth without feeling too desert-y or boring.
