Jordan at Boyce Thompson Arboretum | Chandler High Senior

I've known this girl since she was a cute, yet awkward 10 year old!  And now!..just look at her.  She's grown up to be such a kind, caring, beautiful woman.  We had a fabulous time shooting out at the Boyce Thompson Arboretum If you've never been, I HIGHLY recommend it!

We shot out at the Boyce Thompson Arboretum, which is one of those locations I genuinely get excited about. If you've never been, it's worth the drive. It's about an hour east of the Phoenix area near Superior, and it offers something you don't really find closer to home. The landscape is diverse, the light is great, and it just doesn't feel like every other senior session you've seen on Instagram. For Jordan it was a perfect fit because she has this natural, easy presence that works really well in an organic setting.

She was a blast to spend an afternoon with. Easygoing, fun, and zero drama. Sessions like that go fast in the best way.

Jordan is heading to ASU next year and I have no doubt she's going to thrive there.

Why Boyce Thompson Arboretum Is Worth Considering for Senior Photos

Most seniors in the Chandler and Gilbert area default to a handful of the same spots, which are all great, but if you want something that stands out a little, Boyce Thompson is worth a look. The variety of backdrops in one location means you're not stuck repeating the same vibe in every shot. You get desert, lush greenery, interesting textures, all in one afternoon.

A few things to know if you're considering it: plan to go in the cooler months since it's in the desert and the drive is warmer the farther east you go. Early morning or late afternoon light is ideal. And wear comfortable shoes because you'll be walking.

Thank you Jordan for being SO FUN to spend an afternoon with! I wish all the best at ASU next year!

Planning Your Senior Session

  • Book before fall hits. Senior season fills up fast and the best dates go first. If you have a location or time of year in mind, lock it in early.

  • Think about what feels like you, not just what looks good on someone else. The sessions that turn out best are the ones where the senior shows up as themselves, not a version of themselves they borrowed from someone else's gallery.

  • Two or three outfits is the sweet spot. Enough variety to keep things interesting, not so many that the session feels rushed.

  • And don't stress about posing. That's literally my job. Most seniors are surprised at how natural it ends up feeling once we get started.
