Gilbert Newborn Photographer | The Klepper Family In-Home Lifestyle Session
I've been photographing the Klepper family for years now, documenting them as they've grown from a family of two to a family of five. Amy and Curt are good friends from church, and I love getting to capture these milestones with them!
When baby Jude arrived in March, I headed to their Gilbert home for a morning session, coffee in hand for everyone (Yes, I’ll bring coffee to you too!) This wasn't your typical quiet newborn shoot—Olivia and Owen brought all the energy, and honestly, that made it so much better. In-home newborn sessions have this magic that studio sessions just don't. You're documenting your family in the space where you'll actually raise your baby. The couch where everyone gathers, the bed where everyone piles in for morning snuggles, the beautiful mess of becoming a bigger family.
Their Gilbert Home Session
Something that makes each home session fun is getting . She's got this sweet, curious personality and wanted to be part of everything. At one point, she grabbed her toy camera and started photographing Amy holding Jude. That moment?…tickled my photographers heart!
Amy and Curt are some of the most patient parents I know. Three kids under five is no joke, but they handle it with so much grace. Owen and Olivia were bouncing around, Jude was doing his newborn thing, and they just rolled with it all. One of my favorite things about in-home sessions is the peek into everyday family life. Olivia's quiet, sweet disposition. Owen being the classic first-born—wanting all the attention. Amy and Curt let them be exactly who they are, and that's what made it all work.
And Jude? After an hour he was done…gave us one perfect scowl that I absolutely love. Turns out even brand-new babies have opinions, and I'm here for it. Not every newborn photo has to be angelic and peaceful. I'm here for all the emotions, including the crying…especially when it's not mine to settle ;)
Tips for In-Home Newborn Sessions with Siblings
Morning Light Works Best: We shot in the morning when natural light is soft and everyone's energy is still manageable. By afternoon, toddlers are done.
Let Siblings Be Involved: Olivia wanted to "help" and take photos. Both kids wanted to hold Jude, those are the moments you'll look back on and love—not the perfectly posed shots.
Patience is Everything: With multiple kids, things won't go according to plan. The best parents (like Amy and Curt) just embrace the chaos, order an extra large coffee and let it unfold naturally.
